Andy Murray will not get the chance to play another match at Wimbledon.
Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from mixed doubles, citing right wrist soreness, and the Murray-Raducanu pairing has been replaced by Rajeev Ram and Katie Volynets in the draw.
Murray and Raducanu were scheduled to play on Saturday night at SW19.
It’s tough news for fans and, of course, for Murray, who wanted one more chance to pick up a few more wins before he said his final goodbye to Wimbledon. The 37-year-old was given a proper sendoff after he and his brother Jamie lost to John Peers and Rinky Hijikata on Centre Court on Thursday.
The news, it appears, has not gone over well with Murray’s mom, Judy, who sent this reply to a tweet about the news. When tennis commentator Markus Buckland called the news “astonishing,” the mom of the two-time Wimbledon champion couldn’t help but agree:
Raducanu into the second week at Wimbledon for the first time since 2021, was seen heading out to the practice courts for a hit. She’ll face New Zealand’s Lulu Sun for a spot in the quarterfinals on Sunday at SW19.
