Led by the dominant mixed tandem of Fabrice Martin and Taylor Townsend and 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin, the Philadelphia Freedoms improved to 2-0 in World TeamTennis play with a 24-12 win over the Springfield Lasers on Tuesday at the Greenbrier in West Virginia.



“I have been on the team with Fabrice (Martin) the last three or four years and we have played well together,” said Townsend. “We have created a solid relationship on the court, and we complement each other well.”

Townsend also won doubles (with Caroline Dolehide).

In other action Danielle Collins routed Sloane Stephens 5-0 to lead Orlando past Chicago, and Vegas got by San Diego in extended play.
