Elbow surgery will sideline Lucas Pouille for the US Open and likely Roland Garros too.
The 58th-ranked Frenchman announced he will undergo surgery on his cranky right elbow before the end of this month.

Pouille has been pained by the elbow issue for the past 10 months. The injury prevented him from playing the Australian Open in January.
"It’s never an easy decision to take, but I will get surgery on my right elbow this month in Paris," Pouille posted on social media. "After new medical exams, it appeared it was the best solution in order to finally be able to play pain-free. I still hope to play before the end of the season. See you all soon."
In 2016, Pouille upset Roberto Bautista Agut and Rafael Nadal in succession to reach the US Open quarterfinals where he lost to compatriot Gael Monfils.
He reached the 2019 Roland Garros second round bowing to Martin Klizan in five tough sets.
