The Road to Singapore is heating up with three of 2018’s four major events in the book, but there’s plenty of suspense remaining as the tour heads into the American hardcourt swing this week at the Citi Open in Washington, D.C. and the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic in San Jose.

Karolina Pliskova currently holds down the No.8 spot in the race but there are nine players within 1000 points of overtaking her and one of those players is Serena Williams, who checks in at No.26 in the world this week and No.17 in the race.

There were no moves inside the Top 10 this week in the WTA rankings, but some significant jumps elsewhere.

Olga Danilovic jumped 75 spots to No.112 in the world after winning the Moscow River Cup title, while Anastasia Potapova jumped 69 to 135 after reaching the final. Danilovic, 17, became the first lucky loser to claim a title in WTA history while Potapova, a former Wimbledon Girls' Singles champion and also 17, reached  her first WTA final.

Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus reached a career-high of No.35 in the world after making the final in Moscow, while China’s Wang Qiang jumped 25 spots to reach 53 in the world after winning the 125K Nanchang title.

Poland’s Magda Linette rose 18 spots to No.62 as a result of reaching the Nanchang semis and Tamara Zidansek of Slovenia reached a career-high ranking of 74 after reaching the semis at Moscow.
