Second Serve

Roger Federer will need to have his return game going against Marin Cilic during Wednesday’s men’s quarterfinal action at Wimbledon if he is to keep his hopes alive of winning an eighth Wimbledon title. If the above highlight is any indication, we can expect a few unconventional returns from the Swiss.

More: Federer Wary of Cilic Aggression

Federer has done a pretty good of returning in his first four Wimbledon matches. The No3 seed has won 17 of 55 return games and managed to put 76 percent of his returns in play. He’ll need to be better on converting his opportunities if he is to get past hard-serving Marin Cilic, however.

Federer has only converted 17 of 46 break points in his first four matches.

Cilic has won 53 of 56 service games in four rounds and 65 percent of his first-serves have not been returned.

Federer holds the 5-1 edge lifetime against the Croat, but he was beaten in straight sets in their last meeting at the 2014 U.S. Open.
