One of the most impressive elements of Dreddy's set-point delivery: He rises from the split without using his hands for balance.

The world No. 101 made his mark, but the top-seeded Ferrer prevailed, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, to advance to the Swedish Open semifinals.

Two-time former champion Ferrer will face compatriot Albert Ramos-Vinolas in tomorrow's semifinals.

The third-seeded Spaniard rallied for a 5-7, 7-5, 6-0 victory over 230th-ranked Italian Andrea Arnaboldi.

Fifth-seeded Fernando Verdasco powered into his second semifinal of the year with a 6-2, 6-1 thrashing of Facundo Bagnis.

In an all-Portuguese quarterfinal, Gasto Elias surprised second-seeded Joao Sousa, 6-2, 6-2, in 62 minutes. Elias will play Verdasco for a spot in the final. It will be the first meeting between the 59th-ranked Verdasco and 89th-ranked Elias.
