Wimbledon Men’s Semis, By the Numbers
A look at some of the numbers in play as we head into Friday’s Mens semifinals:
9-0
Roger Federer has never lost a Wimbledon semifinal. His nine Wimbledon finals are already two more than the next best result. Boris Becker, Arthur Gore and Pete Sampras have all reached seven Wimbledon finals.
9
Novak Djokovic has won his last nine matches vs. Richard Gasquet, dropping just one set in that span (2013 World Tour Finals).
11
Andy Murray is bidding to end an 11-match losing streak against Top-2 players. His last win over a Top-2 player was the 2013 Wimbledon final.
7
By upsetting Stan Wawrinka in the quarterfinals, Richard Gasquet became just the 7th Frenchman to reach multiple Wimbledon semifinals. Sebastien Grosjean and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (2 each) are the only other Frenchman to have accomplished the feat in the Open Era.
26
Federer is bidding to reach his 26th career Grand Slam final. Next on the list is Nadal (20). Djokovic is bidding for his 17th Grand Slam final, which would tie him for 5th all-time with Rod Laver.
51
With a win over Richard Gasquet, Novak Djokovic would tie Bjorn Borg for 6th on the all-time list for Wimbledon wins. The Serb is playing his 6th consecutive Wimbledon semifinal, which ties him for second on the all-time list with Borg, Connors. Only Federer (7) has more.
46
Djokovic and Murray are currently tied for the ATP lead in wins for 2015 with 46. Federer has 39 and Gasquet has 26.
7:51
Amount of time that Federer has spent on court during his first five matches, which is less than Murray (11:01), Gasquet (11:13) and Djokovic (10:43).
49
Number of Grand Slam finals that the quartet have previously reached.
Federer:
25-11 in major semifinals
Djokovic:
16-10 in major semifinals
Murray:
8-8 in major semifinals
Gasquet:
0-2 in major semifinals
