“I’m very excited to be a part of the lululemon family, and representing the brand on and off the court is a dream come true," Fernandez said. "I describe my personal style as casual-chic and I’m always on the go because of tennis.
"It is super important to me to walk out on the court and have no doubt that my match outfits feel good on me, and I’m confident I’m going to feel my absolute best wearing lululemon.”
The feisty Fernandez, playing in just her seventh Grand Slam main draw, engaged fans all over the world with her inspired US Open run. American crowds were captivated by the queen of clutch as she marched through three-set wins over Naomi Osaka, Angelique Kerber, Elina Svitolina and Aryna Sabalenka in New York.
As an ambassador, Leylah will put lululemon’s products through the paces, including the brand’s first-ever tennis collection launching this spring, and she’ll provide instrumental feedback that will inform future design and development.
In a release announcing the partnership, the brand said Fernandez "represents what the lululemon Ambassador community is fully about—athletes in the practice of movement and mindfulness every day. Dedicating long hours to intense training in Florida, Fernandez enjoys spending time with her family, and prior to her matches, she visualizes her play and prepares with her father and coach. She also listens to ‘80s music to pump her up before she walks out on the court.
“Every time she steps on a tennis court, Leylah demonstrates an undeniable strength and passion with a clear focus on achieving her goals," Michelle Davies, VP Global Sports Marketing & Partnerships lululemon said. "She was the natural choice to become lululemon’s next ambassador, given her determination and positive approach to wellbeing.
"Leylah is inspiring people of all ages, as well as the next generation of athletes to pick up the sport of tennis, and we’re proud to be her partner on the amazing journey in front of her.”
