Venus Williams is on the board in 2021!



The 40-year-old American dropped just four games in her first match of the season, defeating Arantxa Rus, 6-1, 6-3 at the Yarra Valley Open in Melbourne.

“It was great to get back on the court,” Williams told reporters after the match. “It's been quite a few months. Definitely not easy to play the first one. Still finding your footing. As you know, it's a sprint out here on the WTA. Everyone is super talented. I was really happy to play pretty well.”

The American legend will face No.4-seeded Petra Kvitova at the Yarra Valley Classic next.

Serena Williams will face Australia's Daria Gavrilova tonight at the same event.
