It's game over for Russian doubles partners, who have been hit with lifetime bans from tennis for committing corruption.
Sofia Dmitrieva and Alija Merdeeva have been banned for life from the sport, following investigations into multiple incidents of match fixing. Two of the matches concerned involved both the players as doubles partners, the International Tennis Integrity Agency announced today.

Merdeeva, seen in photo above, achieved a career-high WTA singles ranking of No. 1192 and a highest doubles ranking of No. 939, was involved in two incidents of match fixing. Dmitrieva, who had a highest WTA singles ranking of No. 928 and a highest doubles ranking of No. 644, was involved in a total of six incidents of match fixing.
In addition, Dmitrieva was charged with a failure to cooperate with the investigation. Both women are permanently prohibited from playing, coaching or even attending any tournament organized by the game's governing bodies.
