Tiriac, a former Top 10 pro who owns the Mutua Madrid Open and was the first Romanian on Forbes' list of billionaires, recently ripped the 23-time Grand Slam champion on Romanian television.
Madrid Open owner Tiriac suggested Serena was overweight and bluntly said she should retire.
"At this age and the weight she is now, she does not move as easily as he did 15 years ago,” Tiriac said of Williams in comments published by Reuters. “Serena was a sensational player.
"If she had a little decency, she would retire. From all points of view.”
Ohanian has no use for Tiriac's criticism.
"Safe to say no one gives a damn what Ion Tiriac thinks," Ohanian tweeted in response to Jose Morgado's tweet: "Safe to say Serena will never play Madrid again."
Four-time Olympic gold medal-champion Serena has said she plans to play the Australian Open, which starts on February 8th.
Williams, who continues her quest to match Margaret Court's all-time record by winning her 24th Grand Slam crown, has been busy training and dancing.
Williams looks fit, but will face a field of younger contenders in Melbourne. Will she silence her skeptics again?
