Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina has become the latest player to test positive for Covid-19. The Spaniard, ranked 53, has tested positive and reportedly still has hope of playing at the Australian Open, but only a very small window to produce a negative test and board the flight to Melbourne for the quarantine.
“This is not good news,” wrote journalist Fernando Murciego on Twitter. “Alejandro Davidovich and Jorge Aguirre tested positive for COVID-19 a few days ago. He #AusOpen He has asked for a PCR as soon as possible, but the deadlines for travel are running out this week. Right now, a very complicated situation for them.”
Reportedly, 21-year-old Davidovich Fokina has entered in the Quimper Challenger, which begins on February 1, as backup in case he is not able to make the Aussie Open deadline.
