Medvedev on Secret to Success

It's hard work.

Medvedev, who has led Russia into the last eight at the inaugural ATP Cup, says his breakthrough season was a direct product of diligence: "practicing like crazy."

The US Open finalist put in the hard yards with another arduous pre-season.

"I really don't k,now what other players do," Medvedev said at the ATP Cup. "I think it's super individual. For me, for the last three years it's been the same.

"After I finish a season I take one-and-a-half weeks off on an island somewhere and half week just at home in Monaco. Then I practice like crazy from eight in the morning to eight in evening. That's how I do my job. That's how I try to do my job and that's how my preseason is."
