Stefanos Tsitsipas is dealing with some upper body issues at the ATP Cup. The World No. 6, who fell in straight sets to Denis Shapovalov on Friday at the ATP Cup, told reporters that transitioning from Dubai to Australia has proven to be difficult.
“When I switched from new conditions from Dubai to here (Brisbane), first practice I had was a bit irritating,” Tsitsipas said after his loss to Shapovalov. “I didn’t feel good to be honest, so today I woke up sore in my arm.”
Tsitsipas says the soreness is in his right shoulder and wrist and he plans to work through the issue. He will be in action on Sunday in Brisbane against Alexander Zverev when Greek faces Germany.
Both teams dropped their opening tie on Friday at the ATP Cup.
“I was a little bit stressed before the match,” said Tsitsipas, “because I didn’t know if I was going to be able to serve. But I served pretty good for the standard that I was expecting.”
