A clearer Melbourne sky gives Petra Kvitova positive piece of mind.
The 2019 Australian Open finalist suffers from asthma and concedes she was concerned by poor air quality and a smoky sky over Melbourne caused by ongoing bushfires earlier this week.

Recent rain and shifting winds have created clearer conditions infusing Kvitova with cautious optimism.
"I've been a bit worried about it," Kvitova told the media at her pre-tournament presser. "Now, I'm very happy that, as I mentioned, the sky is there again.
"Of course, everybody knows that I do have asthma problems, which I wasn't really happy about that if the air is still bad. It's the same for everybody, so it will be really difficult to breathe for sure. I do have my medicines here as well. Yeah, I'm going to use it if it's important."
Prior to her run to last year's final, Kvitova failed to survive the second round in three of her last four AO appearances. An all-Czech battle vs. Katerina Siniakova awaits the left-handed Kvitova in her opener.
The two-time Wimbledon winner has beaten Siniakova in both of their prior meetings. Kvitova says she's satisfied by the steps the tournament has taken to try to protect the health of players.
"Well, I'm very comfortable with everything they've taken," Kvitova said.
