After her straight-sets win over Barbora Strycova on Monday in Melbourne, Victoria Azarenka didn’t want to talk about tennis. No, she had the pigskin on her mind, and as soon as she stepped up to the mic for her post-match interview, she asked Rennae Stubbs to tell her the result of Sunday’s AFC Championship game between the Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots.

Day 8: Azarenka Sets Quarterfinal Clash with Kerber

Azarenka, a self-proclaimed Peyton Manning worshipper got the answer she wanted and screamed “YESSSSS!”

“I’m so happy right now,” said Azarenka. “I didn’t watch, I didn’t want to know the result.”

Azarenka, who has made news all week with her post-match celebratory “dabs” that pay tribute to Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, says she doesn’t want to pick favorites in the Super Bowl. She’s just happy the dream game is set.

Here’s more of what Azarenka said of her affinity for Manning and the NFL during her press conference:

“I'm a fan of Peyton Manning, so when he started playing there I just have so much respect for him,” she said. “He's my Hawaiian family friend, so there is a connection there.”

When asked who she’d be rooting for in Super Bowl 50, Azarenka says she’s not going to root for either side. “Let the best team win,” she said. “This was my dream final, to be honest, and so I can't wait to actually see them both. I think it's Cam's dream, you know, and Peyton, you know, so deep in his career it's definitely a dream again.

“It's going to be awesome.”
