“My response is that there's always going to be, especially these days when there is a lot of speculations, this is now the main story in tennis, in sports world, there's going to be a lot of allegations.”
- Novak Djokovic when asked about speculation regarding a 2007 match that he lost against Fabrice Santoro.
Q. Earlier Kristina Pliskova said she was going to root for you tonight because she was rooting for the next generation. There's a lot of teenagers and young players into the third round. Do you sense there's a shift at all, the younger group is coming through now?
Daria Gavrilova - "Yeah, there are so many girls now coming through. I'm not going to name them all. But already this week there are a few in the third round. It's great. We're all excited. We're all pretty friendly. We hang out together. Yeah, like I said, we're all supporting each other. I think it's going to be awesome."
“Just a bit of a mix-up before the game. I guess it will be fixed by the next round.”
- Nick Kyrgios on having to change his shorts because they were considered too short during his second round match.
“Maybe they will surprise me and one day they will be here and I will be home in the cold and they will be here. Who knows?”
- Roger Federer who said after his second round match he didn’t think his twin daughters should pursue a pro tennis career.
Q. Have you every tried to hit a tweener. Have you tried like in practice or anything?
- Serena Williams: “I did when I was younger, and I was terrible at it. I know what I'm good at, and I know things I'm not gonna excel at. I'm definitely not gonna excel at that shot.”
“I think even if there's something with him, he always plays well. I mean, he never shows the opponents that he's down or anything like that. I also felt that I had my chance, I think, even after winning that second set. But we all know how he plays. Tremendous competitor, all that. So, I mean, it's a match that I want to play. You know, I definitely want to get out there on the court and sort of have a rematch - with a different outcome, I hope.”
- Grigor Dimitrov on facing Roger Federer again after having played him recently in Brisbane.
Q. How much time do you spend practicing them (drop shots)?
- Maria Sharapova: “Um, I wouldn't say it's something I really focus on. It's something that I have added. It's actually something that I had to add, because I was getting really frustrated losing to my hitting partner all the time. He just stood so far back behind the baseline I was like, just can't handle him beating me so often. I have to just change things around. That's kind of when I started getting into that a little bit.”
