Serena Williams says she is feeling good these days but the 23-time Grand Slam champion still isn’t giving a timetable for her return to tennis.
“I’m back to training, which is exciting,” the 40-year-old told USA Today sports in an interview. “So I’m just trying to make sure I’m getting a little more fit training-wise, just getting my body and my muscles used to the tennis training, because that’s totally different from just regular training. And then see what happens, no pressure.”
Williams will make two appearances in a Super Bowl related ad spots on Sunday. She will feature in a Michelob Ultra spot along with Peyton Manning, Steve Buscemi, Alex Morgan and others, as well as an advert for Tonal Systems Inc., a company that she is a key investor in.
Williams' venture capital firm, Serena Ventures, was founded in 2014. According to a recent article in Bloomberg, she currently sits on the board of Poshmark Inc., Momentive Global Inc. (formerly Survey Monkey) and Sorare SAS.
“We focus on pre-seed and seed, and like to take anywhere from 8% to 12% of the company,” Williams told Bloombert. “For Tonal, I invested at the Series C stage because I was intrigued by the product and the opportunity to have such an incredible strength training machine at the house.”
Williams has not played since injuring her hamstring at Wimbledon in 2021. She will turn 41 this September. The American has not won a major title since the 2017 Australian Open, over her last 13 major appearances, despite reaching four different finals.
