2018 BNP Paribas Open champion Naomi Osaka is set to return to the scene of her first WTA Title. The four-time major champion has officially taken a wild card into Indian Wells, which is set to begin on March 7.

Osaka, who defeated Daria Kasatkina in the 2018 final, is set to make her fourth main draw appearance in the California desert, and her first since 2019 when she fell to Belinda Bencic in the round of 16.

Osaka was just 20 at the time she won the title in 2018, and would go on to win the next two hard court majors, at the 2018 US Open and the 2019 Australian Open.

The 24-year-old is currently ranked 82, and plans to spend much of her spring and summer rebuilding her ranking after missing significant time due to mental health reasons in 2021
