The teenager, who trains at the Mouratoglou Academy in Nice, France, won back-to-back ITF titles in Argentina over the last few weeks, and in the process became the the first 14-year-old to win a professional title since 2015 (Claire Liu of USA), and one of just 21 players to have achieved the feat in the last 25 years. The list includes Justine Henin and Dinara Safina, both former world No 1 players.

This weekend, the teenager capped a qualifying run at WTA Guadalajara, and she will take her place in the main draw this week against Sloane Stephens in the first round.

Fruhvirtova, who is the younger sister of Linda (current World No.337 who won her first match on tour in 2021 at Charleston and also claimed an ITF title last week), has risen from outside of the Top-100 to No.435 in the WTA rankings over the last three weeks.

At 14 years and 331 days old, Fruhvirtova will be the youngest player to compete in a WTA Tour main draw match since 2009. Since 2000, only eight players aged 14 or younger have won main draw matches at the WTA level, with Madison Keys being the last one to win a match.
