Elina Svitolina is horrified and pained by the Russian invasion of her native Ukraine—and takes pride in the courageous spirit of her fellow Ukrainians.
Svitolina said she's "devastated" by the pain and carnage she's seeing from Ukraine and determined to help in anyway she can.

The Ukrainian No. 1 announced she will donate all of her prize money from upcoming tournaments to the Ukraine military defense fund and Ukrainian humanitarian causes to support her people.
Svitolina wrote movingly of fear, pain and pride seeing her people fight for their lives in a love letter “To My Motherland”
"My people, every day I fear for you,” Svitolina wrote. “I am devastated, my eyes won't stop crying, my heart won't stop bleeding.
"But I am so proud."
Svitolina also called on the WTA, ATP and ITF to follow IOC guidelines and recognize Russian and Belarusian athletes as neutral athletes only without displaying their national flags, symbols or colors.
