Serena Williams joins NBA all-stars LeBron James and Kevin Durant making statements for equality in a new Nike ad.

"Here within these lines, on this concrete court, on this patch of turf," narrator Michael B. Jordan says. "You're defined by your actions."

The commercial shows Williams returning to her home court in Compton, California where she learned to play tennis with older sister Venus under the guidance of father Richard Williams.

"Equality should have no boundaries," the ad states making a case that fair play required by sport should be extended to society, too.

"Opportunity should not discriminate. The ball should bounce the same for everyone."

The commercial was a trending topic on social media: 24 hours after its release it had racked up two-and-a-half million views on YouTube.
