Dayana Yastremska is the latest tennis professional to test positive for Covid-19. The Ukrainian, who finished the 2020 season ranked 29 in the world, announced that she tested positive upon arrival to Dubai for her training block several weeks ago.
“Two days after arriving in Dubai, my COVID-19 test came back positive,” she wrote on social media. “I went into self-isolation and didn't train for 2 weeks. The symptoms were very strange, it was bad! I fully recovered now and my focus is to go back training!”
Yastremska joins a long list of over twenty ATP and WTA players that have tested positive for the coronavirus in 2020. World No.1 Novak Djokovic, Simona Halep, Kei Nishikori, David Goffin, Grigor Dimitrov and Fabio Fognini are all on the list.
Over 73 million cases have been recorded worldwide, and over 1.6 million deaths, due to the pandemic.
