Australian Open Tournament Director Craig Tiley today joined Acting Minister for Sport Philip Dalidakis and Melbourne & Olympic Park CEO Brian Morris in an Indigenous welcome ceremony to official open the bridge.

The new gateway to Melbourne Park cuts travel time
between Flinders St Station and Birrarung Marr to under 10 minutes, officials say.

The bridge was named Tanderrum following a state wide competition.

Tanderrum is a welcoming ceremony by the people of Kulin Nations, featuring song, dance and cultural exchange, providing safe passage for visitors on country.

The 2017 Australian Open is scheduled for January 16-29th.
