Players in Perth are using the waning days of 2016 to prepare for the 2017 Hopman Cup.

Belinda Bencic, who will partner Roger Federer representing Switzerland in the ITF's eight-nation exhibition event, was practicing ahead of joining forces with the 17-time Grand Slam champion in their opener next Monday.

Bencic and Federer will compete in Group A of the round-robin event alongside France (Kristina Mladenovic/Richard Gasquet), Germany (Andrea Petkovic/Alexander Zverev) and Great Britain (Heather Watson/Dan Evans).

The Hopman Cup begins on Sunday, January 1st with the Czech Republic facing the United States followed by defending champion Australia against Spain.

Alexander Zverev hit on Perth Arena court with older brother Mischa, a sometime practice partner for Federer. Alexander Zverev, who beat Federer on the grass of Halle in June, is looking forward to a rematch with the former world No. 1 next week.

"It’s going to be a great match and I’m already looking forward to it," Zverev told HopmanCup.com. "He hasn’t played for a while but I heard that he was practising very well in Dubai and is well prepared.”

Daria Gavrilova and Nick Kyrgios reprise their partnership leading defending champion Australia in Group B.

The Czech Republic (Lucie Hradecka/Adam Pavlasek), Spain (Lara Arruabarrena/Feliciano Lopez) and the United States (CoCo Vandeweghe and Jack Sock) comprise Group B.
