The 23-year-old Zverev is coming off his best career Grand Slam performance at the Australian Open. Zverev knocked off Andrey Rublev and Stan Wawrinka in succession to reach his first Grand Slam semifinal in Melbourne earlier this year.
Zverev has been working with new coach David Ferrer. The two tournaments in New York will be their first ATP events together.
