Bianca Andreescu learned the hard way earlier this season when it came to overplaying, and the 19-year-old Canadian isn’t eager to make the same mistake twice.

She announced her withdrawal from this week’s Western and Southern Open in order to preserve her body for the U.S. Open.

"I've never been [to Cincinnati], so I'm really disappointed to say that I have to withdraw from the tournament," Andreescu said in a statement on Sunday evening after taking the title in Toronto. "I really have to listen to my body right now. This past week hasn't been easy on it, so I'm going to listen to it and hopefully next year I'll be good to go."

The Canadian did the exact opposite after winning her first career title at Indian Wells this spring. She played Miami the next week and ended up pulling out of her round of 16 match with Anett Kontaveit with a shoulder injury. She would play just one more match at Roland Garros before withdrawing from the tournament and skipping the entire grass-court season.

The struggle has been real for the young Canadian and managing her health while reeling off victories has proved difficult for her. Andreescu had a grueling week in Canada, winning her first four round in three sets.
