Speaking at the Winston-Salem on Sunday after playing a PowerShares Series event on Sunday night, Jim Courier, James Blake and Andy Roddick all had good things to say about the future of American men’s tennis.

More: US Open Seeds Released

The Americans currently have five players in the Top 200, including 18-year-old Taylor Fritz, who is playing at a career-high No. 54 in his first full season on tour.

“We've had some very good players pop through [but] this is the first time we've had this amount of depth at that level. I'm very hopeful, very optimistic,” said Courier, according to Jonathon Braden of ATPWorldTour.com. “I think they can play off of each other, share some of the pressure, share some of the expectations and also push each other.”

Fritz, who notched first career win over another rising American, Frances Tiafoe, hopes to lead the American young guns to a revival.

At the moment, there isn’t a single American in the Top 20, but it could be a while before the likes of Fritz, Tiafoe, Jared Donaldson, Riley Opelka and Noah Rubin are ready to fill those slots.

“I want to see who's going to progress because right now they're all still pretty raw,” former World No. 4 James Blake said.

“They know that they have to earn their place and I think that's a great thing,” said Andy Roddick, the last American man to win a major.
