There is only one Masters 1000 event that Novak Djokovic has yet to win. And he won’t be winning it this year.
After falling in singles and doubles at the Rio Olympic Games on back-to-back days, Djokovic tells reporters that he’ll skip the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati. Next up for the world No. 1? The U.S. Open.
Reportedly Djokovic declined to comment on whether his decision was based on any injuries he has been carrying or his desire to rest.
The Serb has played Cincinnati in each of the last 11 years, going 26-11 with five trips to the final.
