Second Serve

A few days after becoming the second player to qualify for this year’s ATP World Tour Finals in London, Andy Murray has reclaimed the ATP’s No. 2 ranking for the first time since 2013.

The Scot took down Kei Nishikori, 6-3, 6-0, on Saturday to reach the Rogers Cup final.

"It's good to get back close to the top,” Murray said according to ATPWorldTour.com. “I'll keep working hard and try to get that one spot higher."

Murray broke on 6 of 11 break points to see Nishikori off in just 65 minutes. The win improves his career record against Japan’s No. 1 to 5-1.

Murray, a two-time Rogers Cup champion, last held the No. 2 ranking in August of 2013. He’ll attempt to break his eight-match losing streak against Novak Djokovic and win his fourth title of the season in Sunday’s final.
