36-year-old wild card Francesca Schiavone has claimed the Bogota title by defeating Lara Arruabarrena in the final, 6-4, 7-5. The Italian, a former Roland Garros champion who is currently ranked 168, claims her 8th career title.

Arruabarrena struggled with an injury, but the real story of the match was the emotional victory for Schiavone, who has had trouble winning matches let alone titles of late. She entered the draw as a Wild Card, and had not won a single match in six tries at tour-level this season, but when she's on her game on the red clay, there is always the possibility of some magic from Schiavone.

"I'm very happy and emotional," she said in her on-court interview, according to WTATennis.com "Today was a disaster match, but winning was the most important thing. Lara is improving a lot; I think she pulled a muscle and couldn't run as well that she could, but I thank God that I could win the last three games."

And what a reaction! More to come…
