Andy Murray is aiming to return to the pro circuit at this month's Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters.

While the world No. 1 is pleased with his progress rehabbing a right elbow injury, he's taking a wait-and-see approach before fully committing to a comeback.

After Roger Federer defeated the Wimbledon champion, 6-3, 7-6 (5), at the Match For Africa 3 charity exhibition event, Murray told Eurosport he's hoping to return in Monte Carlo.

"Monte Carlo starts in a week, so I'm hoping, if I keep progressing as I have with the elbow, to play Monte Carlo," Murray told Eurosport. "If not, then I just need to stay patient and I'll try the following week. I'm getting there, I just have to go slowly."

Murray, who celebrates his 30th birthday next month, has reached two finals in four tournaments this season despite illness and injury. He battled the shingles following his Australian Open upset loss to Mischa Zverev. Murray defeated Fernando Verdasco to win his 45th career title in Dubai, but was upset by Vasek Pospisil in his Indian Wells opener continuing his career-long struggle in Palm Springs.

The exhibition match with Federer was Murray's first match since that March 12th defeat to Pospisil as his elbow injury forced him out of the Miami Open.

"I enjoyed it," Murray said of the exhibition fundraiser for the Roger Federer Foundation. "I haven't played a match for five or six weeks so to come out and play in front of this crowd against Roger, I appreciate him asking me to come and do this."
