France’s Jeremy Chardy battled tooth and nail with Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut on Tuesday at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters. But in the end he was done in by this botched smash that ended up handing Bautista Agut the critical break in the match.

Apparently Chardy loses the ball in the lights and when he retreats to at least knock the ball back in play he’s too flummoxed to find the court.

Bautista Agut notched the 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 victory in two hours and 54 minutes and he will move on to face Roger Federer in the third round.
