After winning the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters for a ninth time on Sunday, Rafael Nadal sent a message to his late grandfather Rafael.
The elder Rafael Nadal, 85, passed away in September of last year. He was born on Mallorca, where he was a prominent local musician who directed the choir of Palma's Teatre Principal from 1983-89. He had five children, including football player Miguel Nadal, who played for Spain at three World Cups, and Toni Nadal, the current and longtime coach of Rafael Nadal.
Nadal, who had not won a title since his grandfather’s passing, left a simple tribute by signing the camera "Va per tu padrinet"
