Is Genie Bouchard inspiring ATP players to also forgo one of tennis’s storied traditions? Probably not, but something caused the bad blood between Guillermo-Garcia Lopez and Lukas Rosol on Friday at the BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy in Bucharest.

More: Sharapova Falls, both Literally and Figuratively, in Stuttgart

Watch as Garcia-Lopez tries to peg Rosol with a smash on match point, then ignores the Czech’s attempt to shake his hand.

Only when prompted by the umpire does the Spaniard reach his hand out to Rosol, who then declines and walks back out onto the court to salute the crowd as if he’d won the match.

If you’re scoring at home, Garcia-Lopez ended Rosol’s run of two straight finals in Bucharest with a 6-4, 7-6(7) victory.

According to this piece (and based on Google Translate), Garcia-Lopez took offense to Rosol’s antics during the match. The Spaniard says that Rosol repeatedly complained to the umpire that Garcia-Lopez was taking too much times between points, and also that the Czech was rude during the match and was trying to intimidate him.

“He’s okay away from the court,” Garcia-Lopez said. “I don’t know why he’s like this.”

Garcia-Lopez will face Gael Monfils in one of Saturday’s semifinals in Bucharest, while Daniel Gimeno-Traver will face 21-year-old Jiri Vesely in the other.
