The US Open has lost a leading lefty.

The 2025 Indian Wells champion Jack Draper officially withdrew from the US Open today.

A chronic left arm issue has sidelined Draper, one of the most dynamic players in the game when healthy, from all four Grand Slam tournaments this season.

The left-handed Briton joins world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, sidelined with a right knee injury, in withdrawing from Flushing Meadows.

It continues a season of pain for Draper, a former world No. 4, who has been battling a bone bruise in his left arm throughout the season.

The 24-year-old Draper’s last major match was a four-set win over Federico Agustin Gomez in the 2025 US Open first round. Draper was forced to withdraw prior to his second-round Flushing Meadows match and has not contested a major since.

Now ranked No. 143, Draper has posted an 8-6 record in 2026. Among those eight wins was an electrifying 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(5) Indian Wells triumph over Novak Djokovic in one of the best hard-court matches of the season.

On that night in Palm Springs, Draper showed his skills are still among the best in the world even if his body continues to betray him.
