Bencic Beats Noskova, Collects 10th Career Title in Tokyo

All good things come to those who wait.

Belinda Bencic was in no mood to play the waiting game in this Tokyo final.

Olympic gold-medal champion Bencic defused powerful Czech Linda Noskova 6-2, 6-3 in today’s Tokyo final collecting her 10th career championship at the Toray Pan Pacific Open.

A focused Bencic belted her backdown the line with precision taking the one hour, 22-minute final a decade after she fell in the Tokyo title match.

Playing in Tokyo brings good vibes for Bencic, who captured the 2021 Olympic gold medal in Tokyo and was Toray Pan Pacific Open runner-up to Agnieszka Radwanska in 2015.

“It was wonderful playing in front of you guys,” Bencic said after the match. “The last time I won here was the Tokyo Olympics when it was an empty stadium, so it was a completely different atmosphere, but it was great to play in front of you guys.

“I love to play in Japan, so I’m super happy to finally win this tournament.”

It is Bencic’s second title of the season following her Abu Dhabi title run in February. Bencic rises from No. 13 to No. 11 in the WTA rankings.
