2026 Wimbledon Sets Attendance and Digital Records

The first fully dry Wimbledon fortnight in seven years saw The Championships reign records.

The 2026 Wimbledon drew a record 550,151 fans, and set daily attendance records set on Days 7, 12 and 14.

Propelled by the first rain-free Championships since 2019, the popularity of the famed Wimbledon Queue continued, with tens of thousands of guests purchasing tickets on the day.

Day 1 drew what was believed to be the largest opening-day crowd ever in the Queue.

The All England Club today announced a series of records set at the 2026 Championships.

The 139th Championships drew 4.8 billion impressions on social media and proved to be a ratings winners for several networks.

Wimbledon was a massive ratings winner for ESPN.

ESPN’s coverage of The Championships scored double-digit audience increases and ranks as ESPN’s second most-viewed Wimbledon ever, highlighted by ESPN’s most-watched Wimbledon ladies’ final in history.

Overall, the two-week grass-court Grand Slam across ESPN networks—ABC, ESPN, ESPN2—saw an 18% year-over-year increase, averaging 853,000 viewers.

Though top British stars Emma Raducanu, Jack Draper and Sonay Kartal all withdrew before the opening round, we saw home-grown players shine.

In a historic and wildly-entertaining ride, Wimbledon native Arthur Fery’s remarkable run saw him become the first British wild card to reach the men’s semifinals in the Open Era.

The Fery Tale ended two miles from home.

SW19 resident Fery’s inspired run to the Wimbledon semifinals ended with a 7-6(0), 6-2, 6-4 loss to French Open champion Alexander Zverev.

Centre Court crowd and the fans packed on Henman Hill rose saluting the world No. 114, who played in front of Princess Kate, Queen Camila, Roger Federer and moved the masses in the process.

“It’s been new to me for these past two weeks, having so much support, so many fans, so much support on social media and, yeah, as you say, on Henman Hill, Murray Mount, whatever you want to call it,” Fery said. “Yeah, it’s something I have to get used to if I keep playing well, which I hope I will.

“Yeah, it’s awesome. It’s awesome. It pushes me to do better and give my best on the court.”

Henry Patten became the first British player in the Open era to win the gentlemen’s doubles title on multiple occasions, following his victory with Harri Heliovaara, while Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid won the gentlemen’s wheelchair doubles title for the seventh time at The Championships.

Attendance

• The Championships 2026 set a new attendance record, with 550,151 fans passing through the gates during the Fortnight. Daily attendance records were set on Days 7, 12 and 14.
• The highest number of international fans were from the US, Ireland, Italy and Germany.

Broadcast

• Global appetite for Wimbledon remains very strong, with media rights agreements covering over 200 territories.
• BBC’s coverage of Wimbledon was streamed more than 54.8 million times in the UK, yielding a total of 206 million audience hours for The Championships.
• The gentlemen’s singles final achieved a peak TV and online audience of 6.24 million, with nearly all (5.95 million) watching on BBC One.
• 3.92 million tuned into BBC One to watch the all-Czech ladies’ singles final, with Linda Noskova defeating Karolina Muchova on her sixth Championship point.
• In the US, ESPN reported its second most-viewed Championships ever, behind only 2019. The ladies’ singles final became ESPN’s most-viewed ladies’ singles final ever, averaging 1.9 million viewers (2.46 million peak), up 48% year-on-year, while the gentlemen’s singles final averaged 2.4 million viewers (3.39 million peak).
• The 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams’ three-set loss to Aussie Maya Joint on Tuesday, June 30th, delivered record viewership for host broadcaster ESPN. It was ESPN’s most widely-viewed Wimbledon Day 2 on record.
• Sky Italia broadcast the gentlemen’s singles final on its main sports channels and free-to-air platform TV8, attracting a total average of 4.39 million viewers and a peak audience of 5.88 million.
• In Czechia, Eurosport’s sublicensing of the ladies’ singles final to free-to-air broadcaster Prima delivered a peak audience of 900,000 viewers and a 38.5% audience share.
• In Germany, Amazon Prime’s decision to remove the paywall for the gentlemen’s singles final featuring Alexander Zverev significantly expanded reach, delivering over 3.5 million viewers.
