Mirra Andreeva spent time sharpening her serve on the practice court this week.
Today, Marta Kostyuk shredded the Roland Garros champion’s serve.

Kostyuk converted five of six break point chances carving out a 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 win over Andreeva to advance to the Cincinnati Open quarterfinals today. Kostyuk, who beat 2017 US Open champion Sloane Stephens in round three, scored her second straight win over a Slam champion.
The 10th-seeded Ukrainian avenged a 6-1, 6-3 loss to Andreeva in the Roland Garros semifinals.
It was Kostyuk’s third win in four meetings vs. Andreeva this year.
Previously, Kostyuk beat Andreeva 7-6, 6-3 in the Brisbane quarterfinals before posting a 6-3, 7-5 victory in the Mutua Madrid Open final on red clay.
Down a set today, Kostyuk began imposing her all-court skills in cruising through seven games in a row to dish a second-set bagel and go up 1-0 in the third set.
Kostyuk broke at 15 for 3-1 then fended off a break point to confirm the break for 4-1.
Continuing her hunt for a Top 10 spot, the 11th-ranked Kostyuk is now 458 points behind US Open finalist Amanda Anisimova for the No. 10 spot.
Next up for Kostyuk is either two-time Grand Slam champion Coco Gauff or 22nd-seeded Marie Bouzkova for a semifinal spot.
Kostyuk was the best player on the court for stretches of the three-set doubles victory she and Peyton Stearns scored over 46-year-old Venus Williams and 44-year-old Serena Williams on Monday night.
Today, Kostyuk amped up her aggression as the match progressed.
No. 3-seeded Jessica Pegula outlasted Sorana Cirstea 6-2, 4-6, 7-5
The 2024 Cincinnati finalist Pegula improved to a WTA-best 44-11 in 2026.
Pegula, who captured her fourth career WTA 1000 title in Dubai earlier this year, will play either Wimbledon winner Linda Noskova or Anisimova for a semifinal spot.
