After waiting eight years, Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic can once again call herself a WTA champion.

In the finals of the Brasil Tennis Cup, Zakopalova found herself up against a familiar opponent in Spain's Garbine Muguruza. Back in January, they faced each other earlier at the Hobart International final that Muguruza won.

It looked early on that Muguruza again would raise a trophy. The Spaniard secured a 6-4 first set and found herself up 5-2 in the second.

But that's when it all changed.

Serving for the title at 5-3, Muguruza found herself broken by Zakopalova who would go on to level the set. Zakopalova would continue riding the momentum shift as she won the set and then would break Muguruza again to open up the third set.

Never looking back, Zakopalova would not lose another game as she went on to complete the 4-6, 7-5, 6-0 victory.

Florianopolis is now the third career WTA title for Zakopalova who won two earlier ones way back in 2005 at 's-Hertogenbosch and Portoroz. Zakopalova continues to enjoy good results this season having reaching the Rio final last week as well.

"Winning this title is just incredible - I really have no more words for it," the No. 32 ranked Zakopalova said later to WTA.com.

Anabel Medina Garrigues and Yaroslava Shvedova won the doubles title over Francesca Schiavone and Silvia Soler-Espinosa 7-6(1), 2-6, 10-3.
