Alexander Zverev started the year hungry for an elusive major advancing to the Australian Open final.

In the aftermath of his ATP Finals loss to Felix Auger-Aliassime, Zverev said the 2025 season left a bad taste in his mouth.

Though he is currently world No. 3 in the live rankings and won his 24th title before adoring home fans in Munich, Zverev summed up his season as “incredibly unsatisfying.”

For me, an incredibly unsatisfying season,” Zverev said. “The tennis
season is long, you have a lot of up and downs. For me there were not many ups. I think for me the Australian Open final, Munich as you mentioned. Everything else, I’m very unsatisfied.”

Though the former Olympic gold-medal champion reached finals in Vienna and Stuttgart, he also suffered a Wimbledon opening loss to Arthur Rinderknech, bowed to Novak Djokovic in the Roland Garros quarterfinals and was knocked out of the US Open third round by Auger-Aliassime.

Zverev confirmed he will represent Germany in next week’s Davis Cup Final 8 then aims to focus on getting fully fit and healthy ahead of the 2026 season.

“I mean, staying fit is number one for me priority because then I can build. It’s as simple as that,” Zverev said. “I feel like over the last month I was still building up quite nicely. I feel like my level has been
improving. Today it was nowhere near what it was the last month.

“But yeah, I mean, look, I’ll play Davis Cup, then I’ll take some time off, then I’ll have some time to think about it. Right now it’s a disappointment with the loss. It’s not only a disappointment with the loss, it’s a disappointment with how I performed with my capabilities.”

Zverev just need to stop running his mouth and let his tennis do the talking even though that’s awful as well. Saying the tennis officials were making the courts slower for Jannik and Carlos and then losing terribly on every tournament since then. Just take some time to yourself. He had some many off court issues he need to be quiet
