Watch: Del Potro Pegs a Linesman with Bomb Serve

<![CDATA[Working the lines is a cool gid, but it comes wth mad risk--and likely a few bruises.]]>

Being a tennis linesperson is great. You get to stand on court and watch the greatest players in the world ply their trade at the most prestigious tennis venues. Here at Wimbledon they even give you a snazzy Ralph Lauren uniform to do it. But the gig does come with some drawbacks. And bruises.

Watch as this linesman gets pelted not once, but twice by Juan Martin del Potro’s giant serve on round two. The cherubic linesman seemed to have no problem handling the pain, but he might want an ice bath when the day is done. Del Potro won the match in four sets over Thanasi Kokkinakis, but this lineseman earns the red badge of courage for Day 2. ]]>
