Barbora Strycova handled a strange request from a fan at Birmingham with humor. When a fan named “Steve” who asked if there was any chance for a dinner date during the week if she was still around, Strycova didn’t exactly close the door on the fan.Strycova’s reply: “Hi Steve. I’m not married.”Good start, and that was more than enough to leave the crowd in stitches, Strycova then continued, after adding that she does have a boyfriend. “My boyfriend is not here so we might go for dinner.”More stitches.Priceless! If Strycova goes it would be the second kooky WTA date of the season. On a dare, Eugenie Bouchard took a date with a fan after the Super Bowl, after a bet gone wrong. No word on how Strycova’s boyfriend is taking the news.No.8-seeded Strycova defeated Yulia Putintseva, 6-3, 6-3 on Monday at Birmingham. She will face qualifier Marketa Vondrousova or Ashleigh Barty in the second round.
