Andy Murray got off to a slow start in his first match without Ivan Lendl as his coach, but the two-time Grand Slam champion finished with a bang to take out Australia's Matthew Ebden, 3-6, 6-0, 6-1. In the final set, Murray's elite shotmaking capabilities were on display for all to see, as the great Scot used his left hand to perfection to angle this turn-around backhand past a helpless Ebden.

Murray moves on to face Feliciano Lopez of Spain in the third-round at the Sony Open.
As far as what it was like to be without Lendl, Murray had the following to say:
“Well, yeah, the last few days are distracting,” Murray said, “because it's a big change, and it's something that I'll need to think about a lot and find a solution for. In that respect, yeah, it's distracting, because when you have a settled team and stuff, that's the best.”

Murray says it's not so much about Lendl's physical presence in the box. It's more about losing a valuable resource and having to figure out how to move forward from here.
“It's not distracting not having him here, because I played many matches without him there,” Murray said. “It's more not having him as a coach and thinking about where I go from here. That's more distracting than not having him, say, in the box.”
