(JUly 7, 2011) Li Na reported back to her home in China as the first Chinese player to win a major single's title and received several forms of recognition after taking the Roland Garros trophy.

According to the Xinhua news agency, she was offered gifts and a government position from her home, the Hubei province, to be the deputy head of the provincial tennis administration center.

She rejected the appointment but took the 600,000 yuan ($114,000) check from the Hubei government to add to the $1.65 million (S$2.03 million) in prize money she earned at the French Open.

She explained to Xinhua why she didn't accept the offer, "I heard about it but haven't taken it seriously. I am not capable of managing others. Even if I do, I can only handle my husband Jiang Shan."

"In addition, I am still playing now. I don't have the energy for other things right now," honestly added Li.

29-year-old Li, also, became the first Chinese person to be a global brand ambassador for the Mercedes-Benz brand for a 3-year partnership. She is the official ambassador for Mercedes-Benz’s ‘Swing for the Stars’ Junior Tennis Program in China for aspiring players.
