Rough times continued for Andy Murray on Wednesday at Queen’s Club.

Tennis Express

The Scot has been hobbled by injuries over the last two months (primarily an ankle injury suffered in Miami), and his situation may have gotten worse on Wednesday in London. Five-time Queen’s champion Murray was forced to pull out of this second-round match with Jordan Thompson due to an ailing back.

The three-time Grand Slam champion could only get through five games before pulling the plug, 4-1 RET.

It’s a difficult moment for the three-time major champion and it puts his Wimbledon in jeopardy. He will reportedly undergo scans to check the severity of his injury in the coming days. Main draw play at Wimbledon begins on July 1st.

Fritz and Korda Advance

It was a good day for Americans in London as Taylor Fritz and Sebastian Korda each booked quarterfinal slots.

Korda edged Grigor Dimitrov 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 in three sets, setting a quarterfinal with Australia’s Rinky Hijikata, while fourth-seeded Fritz toppled Milos Raonic, 7-6(5), 6-4.

Fritz, the only seeded player left in the bottom half of the draw, will face Jordan Thompson in the quarterfinals.

Korda, who picked up his first Top-10 win of the season, improves to 15-7 lifetime on grass; Fritz is 25-21 on the grass for his career.
