Zheng Qinwen muscled past Karolina Muchova to claim her third career title on Sunday at Palermo.

Zheng Qinwen has gone back-to-back in Palermo. The seventh-ranked Chinese took out Karolina Muchova in a battle of wild cards and former Grand Slam finalists, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, on Sunday at the Palermo Open.
Zheng, 21 and a finalist at this year’s Australian Open, claims her third career title and improves to 11-1 lifetime on the red clay of Palermo. She converted 7 of 19 break points in a physical battle with the World No.35, converting three breaks of serve in the deciding set as she pulled away from Muchova.
The Czech, a runner-up last year at Roland-Garros, was bidding for her second career title, and first since 2019.
She was playing her third tournament since making a return from wrist surgery on the Birmingham grass last month.
Zheng was the top seed in Palermo for the first time in her career.
