Welcome to the ATP’s Top-20, Ugo Humbert.

The 23-year-old Frenchman topped off an impressive finish to the 2023 season by winning the title in his hometown of Metz, defeating Alexander Shevchenko, 6-3, 6-3 For the Moselle Open title.

“It was my dream when I was young, to win this tournament,” Humbert said. “Just amazing – I have a lot of feelings right now, I can’t describe it. It’s so incredible to win here, in my hometown, with my family here.”

Humbert converted three break points on seven opportunities, and saved the only break point he faced in the 67-minute contest.

He dropped just eight points on serve all afternoon.

With his victory Humbert improves to 4-0 lifetime in ATP finals, and will finish the season as France’s top-ranked player for the first time.

Humbert finishes the season with a personal best 33 wins (33-23), and denied Shevchenko in his first career ATP final. The 22-year-old Russian was bidding to become the ATP’s seventh first-time titlist in 2023, but will still gain a Top-50 debut in next week’s ATP rankings despite the loss.

"I knew the key was to stay really present," Humbert said. "I did it and I'm really proud."
