Faced with a one-set deficit against Tatjana Maria in Bad Homburg, Iga Swiatek rallied for an impressive comeback win to kick off her grass-court season in style.

The top-ranked Pole rifled through 12 of the final 14 games to take down last year’s Wimbledon semifinalist 5-7, 6-2, 6-0.
Grass has proven to be a difficult problem in the last few seasons for Swiatek, but she solved one of the trickier grass-courters on tour with aplomb on the German grass.
"She has a different game style and at the beginning it was tricky," Swiatek said on court after her 36th win of 2023. "But I'm pretty glad that I figured it out because I guess problem-solving on grass is the most important thing.
"So I really just wanted to look forward and thank what I could change. I know I have the game for that. I just had to find it a little bit."
Swiatek stretches her current winning streak to eight matches – she will face Switzerland’s Jil Teichmann in second-round action at Bad Homburg.
