Ukraine’s Kateryna Baindl is the latest woman to provide inspiration for her country on the WTA Tour. The 29-year-old from Nikolayev will bid for her maiden WTA title on Sunday against Maria Timofeeva.

Baindl, ranked 100, won twice on Saturday to reach her first WTA final since 2018. She first finished off Fanny Stollar in a match that was held over due to rain, 7-6(5), 6-3, then took out American Claire Liu, 7-5, 7-6(3).

Timofeeva, 19 and from Moscow, defeated Nadia Podoroska, 7-6(6), 3-6, 6-3. The World No.246 is also bidding for her maiden ATP title.
